ASKING THE WAY

You are in the street in France and ask a passer-by for help

• Ask where the supermarket is
• Ask if it is far
• Say how you will get there
• Say thank you and goodbye

Your teacher will play the part of the passer-by and will speak first.

TO HELP YOU

a) Remember, you pronounce é . It is not silent

b) Can you pronounce the French for ‘far’? Can you think of another way of asking the question?

c) Pied and voiture often cause pronunciation problems. Can you think of another form of transport that is easier to say?

d) Don’t confuse ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.
